Hello! My name is Josie Graham and I am a Talent Acquisition Partner focused on DE&I, Allied Health, Operations, and Administration in the HR Department at Woman’s Hospital. I’m new to the organization, having started in mid-June, and I’m excited to be a part of the Woman’s family.
A little about me – I was born and raised in Thibodaux, LA and graduated from Nicholls State University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s in Human Resources Management. I’m also a SHRM Certified professional and have worked in recruiting for a majority of my career.
Part of my new role is about bringing more diverse talent to Woman’s. June is Pride Month and to me personally, it means being unapologetically proud of the person I am and how I have grown into my identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride month gives me a reason to celebrate the differences in the friends that I surround myself with and find joy in the fact that love will always win!
A bit of history about how Pride Month was founded. It was created to commemorate the June 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City where members of the LGBTQ+ community protested and rioted against the unfair treatment and illegality of identifying as/publicly acting as homosexual. This month brings attention to the efforts of past, current, and future individuals who have fought and will continue to fight for equality based on sexual orientation on local, state, country, and international levels.
I hope that my role as a Talent Acquisition Partner with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will create safe and self-affirming pathways for LGBTQ+ individuals to find a successful career in healthcare while remaining true to themselves. I hope that through my efforts, people of all genders, race, religion, and orientation can have visibility and representation in all departments and levels of leadership at Woman’s, so we can properly serve our community’s diverse patient base.
