How did you get involved with BUST Breast Cancer?
Woman’s Hospital means so much to me. As a breast cancer survivor treated at Woman’s, I am forever grateful for this hospital, the doctors, nurses and staff. BUST Breast Cancer is an amazing event to raise awareness for the resources that the hospital has available to the community, specifically raising funds for the mobile mammography coaches that travel the state. Any time I can be a part of something to save lives, especially a fun, amazing, incredible event such as this, then I’m IN!
Why did you decide to chair the event?
I have participated on the committee of BUST for several years. I was honored to be chosen as a model for the inaugural year of all survivor models. That moment on stage is one that can never be duplicated and I want to give that opportunity to as many survivors as possible. Chairing the event is something I’m honored to do and I have such an amazing team serving on our committee.
What is your favorite thing about BUST Breast Cancer?
The SURVIVORSHIP shown on this magical night. Seeing all of the survivor sisters come together on stage and throughout the crowd is a moment of the best emotion. Breast cancer is scary, complicated, ugly and awful, but to see a network of women all bound by the same unfortunate life event and turn that sadness into celebration absolutely cannot be described. It’s truly a moment like no other!
